Creating a classroom space where students are able to access their education is detrimental to their success. Many students are unable to keep their bodies and minds in a space where they are able to take in information and learn.
Setting up a sensory station where students have options for motor breaks will allow them to channel their energy into exercises and activities where they can get what their mind and body need.
Students will be able to use this station as needed in order to take a break under supervision. Students will benefit from sensory tools to meet their bodies' needs.
I would love to allow my students to make smart choices about where they learn best. Providing education around the tools and how to best use them (and when!) are all things that will be discussed. By providing them with the tools necessary to get the most out of their education- we will all be more successful.
Thank you!
My Project
The tools that I would love to have accessible to my students would benefit them greatly.
Sensory play involves lots of action, from lifting and throwing, to splashing and shaping.
While these actions may seem small, they all support the development of different muscle groups and help kids to build their fine motor skills. Play will help cognitive development, motor development, emotional development, communication, social skills and develop a sense of self.
The tools I have chosen will meet the needs of those looking for a fidget in the classroom or someone who needs a whole body movement in the hallway. They will help a student who prefers to have the sound cancelled out while completing independent work or a student who simply needs the support of a lap animal to provide them with weight and security to accomplish their work.
