This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I have selected for this project are everyday needs items, like paper, pencils, pens, which students lose throughout the day, several times. I have also included items that I find my students needs increasingly more as we navigate a more volatile world both in New York City and the outside world at large.

To that end, I have included not only the everyday items they will need in order to succeed as scholars, but also stress balls which will help them navigate the ore challenging units this year, like the college essay writing process as well as navigating the college application process.

Being comfortable and having access to the items students need to succeed in school is such a basic thing but which most of my students often struggle with whether it is a financial burden on their families or simply teenage forgetfulness and carelessness, however, no child should be punished for not having what they need while in school. I have spent thousands of dollars of my own money ensuring that my students succeed in school every day, feel like they have at least one welcome corner. My students know that they can come by my classroom to grab a fidget toy, or a stress ball, or a book which they love and use it throughout the school day. It feels great to be able to provide them with the essentials.
