Help me give my students a community rug that serves as a gathering place for learning, reading, collaboration, and celebrating one another. This shared space will be used for community meetings and reading workshops.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am reaching out to kindly request a donation for specific items that will greatly benefit our 4th-grade classroom. Your generous contribution will help create a peaceful classroom space and help cultivate a joy for reading for our multilingual students.
This classroom pond rug will serve as a focal point for our shared reading space, fostering a love for reading and providing a cozy area for students to come together for discussions and community meetings.
Each day during our ELA block, students will convene on the rug for various activities. These include listening to a shared reading, engaging in specific word work lessons, receiving personalized instruction, sharing reflections and appreciations during community meetings, and fostering collaboration among peers.
This rolling book cart will help organize our monthly theme books or books related to the current unit of study. It will proudly display books and encourage reading, allowing students to self-select their books with ease from anywhere in the classroom.
The magnetic pocket chart will be used to display sentence frames and key vocabulary, enhancing collaborative discussions during English Language Development (ELD) and English Language Arts (ELA) lessons.
"The Day You Begin", a great ack to school read aloud by Jacqueline Woodson will be a valuable addition to our collection, promoting social-emotional learning and encouraging conversations about bravery, diversity, and the importance of sharing our unique stories.
These resources aim not only to enrich the learning experience but also to create a tranquil space where students can feel encouraged to connect with one another. Your support will help us achieve our goal of cultivating the joy of reading.
