I work in an inclusive 4th grade classroom in an elementary school setting. Being a part of an inclusive classroom means that all 21 students receive all their education in the classroom setting with their peers. I co-teach with another professional, this way no student has to be removed from the classroom in order to receive an appropriate individualized education. This is an amazing program; however, it brings together a lot of diverse needs under one roof. My students are focusing their time in school on preparing themselves both academically and social emotionally for their transition to middle school; that looks different for every student.
MindYeti was designed by the Committee for Children which is a nonprofit organization that creates research-based social-emotional learning (SEL) materials to help children succeed in school and in life. We’re helping create a world in which children can grow up to be peaceful, kind, responsible citizens. In 2016, the Committee for Children brought together award-winning creative partners and top experts in mindfulness research to develop Mind Yeti, a research-based tool that teaches children how to calm down, focus their attention, and connect better to themselves and to others.
GoNoodle and MindYeti will allow all our students the ability to calm down and develop the appropriate social emotional skills necessary to succeed throughout their 4th grade year.
GoNoodle is similiar to MindYeti except it offers 300+ movement and mindfulness videos, 12 interactive common core-aligned standards based games. GoNoodle will also enable us to customize 6 games with our own questions based on our current content. While providing us with 100+ printable Learning Extensions to utilize with our students. GoNoodle also enhances classroom community through silly videos and allow for cohesion as a group.
