My Students

My students are a group of amazing teens that I know are going to make a difference in the world. We are the first Montessori Middle Public School in Delaware. After teaching for years in the private sector I am happy to be reaching a different demographic of students. Our school is located in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware and our population is very diverse.

Montessori education stresses independence, respect and care of yourself, others and the environment.

These students are going to change the world - I just know it.

This project will have a huge impact on making a peaceful change in a world that needs peace and mindfulness now more than ever.

My Project

These materials will be used as part of our Personal World class. Students will experience the amazing glimpse into the Native American beliefs in the Medicine Wheel/Sacred Hoop ceremony. As a follow up at home students will each be given a canvas and acrylic marker. The canvas will have a print of a labyrinth on it. Students will make their labyrinth at home and keep forever. When feeling stress or uncertainty my adolescents can take time and be with their own thoughts and center themselves and get back to work.

These labyrinths will be something that can be used by all members of their families.

Maria Montessori‘s vision of spreading peace through our children will reach at least our 600 students which multiply exponentially with family members.
