My Students

Many of my students have matriculated to third grade lacking very basic skills in reading, writing, and critical thinking. It is important to me that they accelerate in these skills to become more efficient learners. These resources will definitely help them increase their skills.

My students are very enthusiastic, dramatic little people who are eager to learn new things.

They are always excited about fun, fascinating activities that will enhance learning. Unfortunately, many of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and attend a high poverty school in Louisiana. My school has very limited resources, so it is imperative that I engage them as much as possible to nurture their innate desires to learn. They gravitate towards interactive technology and kinesthetic learning.

My Project

I have requested many great resources for my students to aid in their speaking, writing, and critical thinking. The critical thinking software will be a great activity to use at the computer center. I am super excited about the group learning obstacle course. This tool will enable the entire class to participate in organized kinesthetic learning while using critical thinking in problem solving. I also requested a writing methods visual aid that would reinforce elements of the writing process. The Speechercise CD will be a fun learning activity that will help with verbal communication and writing. The beach ball for guided reading will be a fun tool to encourage student participation and feedback when we engage in class reading exercises. The whisperphones will be utilized in reading centers to help the students hear themselves when reading and completing phonics exercises. The electronic "see n write" will serve as a great tool in the writing center to enhance handwriting legibility.

As a first year teacher, I am open and receptive to any resources that will help my students to become better learners and super achievers.

I want to expose them to as much as possible to open doors and possibilities for future success. Many of my students have low esteem and confidence in their academic ability. I want to empower them with knowledge in a fun, engaging way. I have requested tools that I hope will impact their lives and give them a new appreciation of learning.
