We create an environment where children learn, experiment and explore while having fun. We all learn from each other, work and grow throughout the year.
The children in my classroom come with many needs and talents.
They come from low income families of many cultures and languages. Many need work in academic skills with letters, numbers, counting and writing that we work with to be successful.
Many live in the housing projects in our neighborhood with limited resources. They are so eager to learn.
My Project
The children in my class this year are very curious about the sizes of things. The different scales will teach ways to measure. The art area is also a busy place. They have been using different supplies and talking about how to put things together. The tape would be a great added item to create in 3D without having to wait for glue to dry.
"How do you measure an apple?" was a question a child asked.
We used a tape measure, a pipe cleaner and other items. Our balance scale broke last year, so we were unable to discuss weighing it. The scales will help promote other questions like this.
The art supplies will help us to explore and create. The stampers will help them to make their own observations, games and projects.
