Measurement Tools

My students need tools for accurate measurement in Science. These graduated cylinders will be used between two 4th grades during our unit on the water cycle.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic about learning and thirsty for knowledge. My school is a Title I school where sometimes the only consistency in the students' lives is at school. Still they come in smiling and want to know about the world.

These students don't have the opportunity to travel and explore the world on their own.

The only view they have is what we as teachers can provide for them. By introducing science and social studies, they get to see a different environment, time period, or culture. We have to rely on the Internet for our exploration.

My Project

These cylinders will be used for Science projects and experiments throughout the year. It will also tie into our Math curriculum on measurement. One of our main units is on the water cycle and we have many experiments to bring this process to life for our students.

By using proper science tools, our students can feel like "real" scientists.

My hope is that they will see themselves this way and start to believe that they can really be anything they want to be. I want to instill a desire to continue their science education beyond high school but that desire has to start early with something to wonder about and explore.
