My Project
Measurement is a life skill that many people lack. I want to concentrate more this year on measurement skills with my students. It doesn't matter whether it is a 7th grade math student, a Geometry student, or an Algebra student, measurement is extremely important.
I would love to have enough measuring tapes and meter sticks to take the students outside and do various measurement activities including using the Pythagorean Theorem and Trig functions.
I want them to be able to read a measuring tool and be able to measure using 1/16", 1/8", 1/4", 1/2" and 1 inch increments in addition to being able to comfortably measure using the metric system.
We are a small rural school in a farming community. Measurement is an essential tool for my students in their daily lives at home and at their job sites, as well as at school.
