Can you measure up?
I teach third grade in a very military community. Our main focus is to increase a plethora of science hands-on activities with our specific third grade skills in mind.
I found that the students need to not only hear and read about speed and measurement they need to do it. Since our science skills are in need of improvement, these hands-on activities would prove to benefit them.
The resources in a project are so important, and each student needs to participate. With the economy the way it is, buying the resources you need is very limited. I need the tape measures, inclined planes, stop watches, and the digital stop watch so that all of the students can take part. Doing the timing and measuring on their own will help them become a part of the scientific method. They become the scientists and they test the experiments with a goal. The students understand and record their results. This is very effective to each student's learning.
With your help, I will be able to get all of my students involved and learn the skills that they need. Your help will make a difference.
