it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Reading picture books to middle schoolers can be beneficial for several reasons, including fostering engagement, building background knowledge, and introducing complex concepts in an accessible way, all while enhancing visual literacy and language skills.
These books will help to foster empathy, self-awareness, and emotional regulation, while also engaging students in a way that resonates with them.
The purpose of these picture books is to support my middle schoolers in coping with various emotions in a positive, low-stakes way.
SEL picture books can help middle schoolers understand and relate to diverse perspectives and experiences, fostering empathy and social awareness. These books can provide tools for middle schoolers to recognize and manage their own emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, which is crucial for building healthy relationships and making responsible decisions. SEL picture books can present scenarios that require students to think critically and make thoughtful choices, promoting responsible decision-making in both personal and social contexts.
