Meaningful Playtime

My students need a play carpet, play drill set and timer to help make playtime more meaningful.

My Students

Our students are energetic, active learners. They attend a Title I school and their parents often struggle to buy supplies, uniforms, and provide lunch. The parents do try their best to send their children to school every day so they can get a proper education, meals, and exercise and play in a safe environment. The students try hard at everything they do, from in the classroom to on the playground, because they like school and feel safe at school. The teachers try equally as hard because we know they are our future and need dedicated educators who care about their success and well-being.

My Project

My students are fortunate to have playtime several times a week. They enjoy it and learn a lot like sharing, communicating, and problem solving. But we are in need of few new items for choice time. The carpet will allow them to navigate through the neighbor with our community helper cars and community helper action figures. The drill set will allow them to practice their fine motor skills while doing an "adult activity" like drilling. The dry erase pockets will allow them to color different holiday pictures using our colorful set of dry erase markers. Lastly, the timer will help them keep track of how much time they have left to finish their projects.

Playtime is the time of day they can expressive themselves and practice skills they normally don't get to practice.

It is important that we have meaningful materials for them to explore and utilize.
