My students from San Francisco are full of creativity and love to learn! They come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. They come to school each day, ready to grow, take chances, and thrive academically and emotionally.
Forty percent of my students participate in special education, and/or are an English Learner.
That being said, each student learns in their unique way, and their methods to be successful vary greatly amongst them. They are truly an incredible group of kids and I am lucky to be their teacher. We work together as a team to create a loving and engaging classroom community!
My Project
My third grade students are visual learners who learn through effective modeling from myself and their peers! In order to learn a new strategy and make connections, it is crucial that they are able to clearly see what is being modeled.
A document camera will make it easier for me to provide direct instruction to my students.
A document camera captures an image in real time, and projects it largely for the entire class to see. Not only will it be used to highlight pieces of text, model strategies to solve math problems, and project worksheets, but my students will have a chance to proudly show their work to their peers- largely enough for the whole class to see. They take great pride in their work!
I have also included a class set of highlighters in this project! These will be used in conjunction with the document camera, to showcase particular images, and students will use them in their work to highlight/explain their thinking.
