This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We love to cook in our classroom. My students are all on the Autism Spectrum and receive Occupational Therapy to help with fine motor skills. They love to help cook and prep the meals we make in the classroom; however, it's not always safe for my students to use the prepping tools.

To allow for independence, the Once For All Safe Mandoline and the PrepNatural Veggie chopper will keep my students' fingers safe from injuries while actively participating in a cooking lesson.

The Myvision Water Pump will allow us to have water that we can use to cook in the classroom. My students love pasta, and I want to be able to teach them how to make simple things such as macaroni and cheese and spaghetti, but there is a sign over the sink in my classroom right now a sign above our sink says we are not allowed to drink the water.

The child-safe knives and curved-up cutting boards will allow my students to work independently on their knife skills without the mess of the food's natural juices running over their desks. The bowls with slip guards on the bottom will allow my students to mix ingredients, with the bowls sliding all over the place.

I teach life skills in my class. My students learn how to vacuum, sweep, and mop the floor, and make a bed. Please allow me to help them do meal prep in a safe manner.
