Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school is a very diverse school with over 60% of the students being some form of Latin. I believe that if I am able to provide more books and learning materials that they understand and that they are able to teach their peers then they can all make a greater connection.

I hope to have my classroom feel like some type of home to my students and I want my students to feel and know that my classroom is a safe space.

I would love to have the students come in when they are feeling upset and be able to sit down and have some tea with me so I can help them understand what they are feeling, and then together we can create a solution on how we can verbalize our feelings.

My role in my school is to help students with SEL, academics, and attendance. I do know that having games in the class can help motivate students to want to come to school to be able to play with something they don't have at home. I also recognize that with wanting my class to feel like home I will also be providing food, clothing, and hygiene items if ever needed. I hope that the refrigerator can provide what's needed for healthier snacks. The bookshelf will provide the students to have a place for all their new games to go and will help with holding them responsible for cleaning up and respecting the classrooms materials.
