Me Museum: 4th Graders Exploring Their Own Amazing-ness!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
My Project
My students are explorers, dreamers, artists and inventors. My students are the creative minds that will shape the 21st century and beyond. They crave moments to create beauty and to define themselves.
"Me Museum" will give my students opportunities for self-reflection and creativity and then opportunities to invite other people in to their thought process and artistry.
For both my outspoken and my introspective students (and everyone in between) this will be a very valuable exercise. We will use these books during Morning Work and share with table mates to have a fully engaging experience.
With "Me Museum" my students will know that they are special just because they are themselves.
