Maybe We Could String Something Together! (Violin Sets)
My students need violin string sets to repair broken / missing strings!
This project expired on August 16, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We have over 50 students enrolled in orchestra. A large majority of our student population lives at or below the poverty line. Due to socioeconomic situations, most of our students require the use of school-provided instruments, books, and other materials.
It is difficult to find another group of students as enthusiastic and hardworking as these.
They have a passion for learning and a desire to hone their craft. The experience and impact of learning a hands-on instrument in orchestra and playing with peers will follow them for the rest of their lives.
Violins use the thinnest strings in the orchestra. These strings give the violin its high, upper range. Strings break and wear very easily. Violin strings need to be changed at least every year, so between our broken strings and our worn-out ones, we are definitely needing replacements!
Replacing our old violin strings means that we will be able to play in tune more easily and with a better sound.
For the instruments that are currently missing strings altogether, fixing those strings would mean bringing those instruments back to life and getting them in the hands of students again. It would mean a lot to us to be able to fix and replace our strings! We are requesting 30 Violin String Sets.
