My Project
This is my first year teaching junior high ELA. At the beginning of the year, I was so excited to do my first novel study with my eighth graders! I had an awesome, in depth unit planned with a novel I just knew they would love.
Despite our rocky beginning, day by day, they became more excited and interested in the book we were studying.
They ate it up and were hanging by every word! They were begging for another novel study by the end of the last chapter.
I have decided I would love to do another novel study with them, but with a novel that is more contemporary. A common comment that I heard from our previous novel was that the book was hard to relate to because it was just a little outdated. I would love to dive into The Hunger Games with my students so they can truly find their love and passion for literature on a level that they can not only relate to, but in a way that keeps them on the edge of their seat, as you know if you have read this novel!
