Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher in a low income school. Most of the students in our school are on free or reduced lunch.
Since we are over half-way through this year, I am beginning to think about next year. I almost cringe when I think about our supplies for the start of school. We usually get only $100 to spend! That is supposed to cover writing paper, construction paper, and everything else for the start of school. There just isn't enough money for other essentials such as jumbo pencils, glue sticks, and crayons.
In this proposal I am asking for for several items which will make the beginning of the new school year run smoothly for me.
Little fingers need big pencils to begin writing. Their small motor control is still developing and jumbo pencils help with this development.
Jumbo crayons also work on small motor control. Jumbo crayons last much longer than regular crayons because they don't break as easily as regular crayons do.
Glue sticks are very expensive, especially the large size. The small glue sticks are used up so quickly for projects, that is vital to purchase the large ones. They last for almost half a year.
By 'refilling' these few items, my students will be set to work and learn the very first day of school.
Thank you for your support.
