Maximizing and Organizing My Students' Classroom Space!

Help me give my students a comfortable classroom! Using space-saving materials like chair storage pockets will allow me to maximize the amount of space available to my students this year, while labels will keep my students organized.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I will be receiving forty students into my classroom, which is a new challenge in terms of space and making sure that the students feel comfortable and able to move around in their new classroom. As a teacher, I am familiar with how much space student materials can take up when not properly organized, and to maximize the space that students can use, keeping bigger furniture such as mini bookcases and carts would just make the room feel more cramped for the students.

Students deserve to have enough space to learn and work in the classroom.

Therefore, supplies such as chair pockets and even extra folders will allow students to keep more of their supplies close to their desks without using other furniture that will take up more space, like bins or shelves. A pocket chart can help to keep small group supplies organized and available to the students while being stored vertically, which will also help maximize classroom space.

Organization is always important in a classroom, but it is especially important in this case, where keeping student supplies neat and organized will allow my students to keep better track of their things within such a large classroom. Labels on textbooks, desks, and other essentials will also help keep the classroom running more smoothly.

Although a class of this size will limit the amount of space each student has in my classroom, using these supplies will allow me to provide them with more space to learn and collaborate with their classmates comfortably than I would otherwise have. With organization and different storage options, the classroom environment will feel more open and comfortable for my students.
