My Project
I love having a loud, comfortable, collaborative classroom where everyone works productively and talks to each other about what they're doing. One way I've found super effective in creating this environment is through flexible seating!
English class can be stressful for students--many of them don't feel comfortable with their reading or writing abilities, so going to English can be anxiety-inducing for some; my goal through this project is to add another comfortable seating option so that my students understand this is a place where they can relax, be themselves, and not fear judgment.
My students and I have loved all of the flexible seating options that promote collaborative working, but our classes are 90 minutes long, so I know some of them start to get uncomfortable from sitting on the hard chairs after awhile. This project will provide a cushion for every single chair in my classroom that doesn't already have one. I would love to be able to ensure everyone is completely comfortable each day so they are ready and able to learn to the best of their ability.
Please help me create the most comfortable, collaborative environment possible in my high school English classroom by promoting collaboration, human connection, and learning with one another, rather than just in the presence of one another.
