My Students
My students are excited and energetic about our school community and the community around them! Our community is in the South Bronx- the poorest congressional district in America. Our small community serves students from diverse backgrounds with diverse learning needs. Students come from all across the Bronx and bring with them their unique experiences and backgrounds.
We are a Title I school with students that come from challenging backgrounds, but are inspired to learn new things that will help their community and their futures!
My students are passionate about learning and are excited by challenges that require problem solving. They are energetic in and out of the classroom and see the importance of their work today for their futures.
My Project
My students will be using scientific calculators to help them gain important math skills and successfully complete Algebra 1. Calculators are necessary in my Algebra class, but not every student currently has access to one. My students rely on me to provide them calculators and our school does not have enough for all the students to use during class.
Algebra 1 is the gateway to higher mathematics, and I want to provide every student with the opportunity to not just succeed, but excel, in my class.
My students are excited by learning, they work together, and support each other in the classroom. Regardless of their situation and the community where they attend school, I want them to be able to succeed in my class and other math classes beyond Algebra 1. These calculators will help them practice and gain important skills necessary to their math journeys.
