Math's Four Functions--Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide
My students need a class set of calculators to help them be successful in Algebra 1.
Our school doesn't provided class set of calculators for our students. My greatest challenge is getting a class set.
My students come from low income families whose parents work multiple jobs.
Our school is very supportive of our students in making sure they are successful. My students work hard to earn their grades, but I would like to close the achievement gap by providing the appropriate resources in my classroom.
I teach Algebra 1 retake students. I have majority ENL and Special Education students in my class. Resources are limited in my classroom, and my student struggle without having calculators to use. My students would be more successful if the resources were available to them. In my math class my students could use a class set of calculators when solving exponential equations. Sometimes the numbers get larger than the mental math they know, and calculators are beneficial. Also, having a class set of calculators that are the same help make it easier for teaching my students how to use them. My students would become more successful with these calculators.
Being able to provide a resource that it necessary to my students education in math will make a major impact in the daily routine in my classroom.
Many students easily give up because they don't have the materials to be successful. My goal is to provide the resources so excuses aren't an option.
