This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Please help make math more meaningful and enjoyable for my students! I teach kindergarten in a Primary Center (grades K-1st) which is located in one of the most densely populated and lowest socioeconomic areas of California. All my students are English Language Learners.

My kindergarden students are limited in math concepts, but they love to hear good literature stories!

I need the tools to aid me in integrating both curricular areas, math and literature, in order to make learning math concepts more positive and comprehensible. Introducing or reviewing a math concept by reading a good math story helps children understand and learn math concepts easier.

My Project

I need math-literature centers to integrate the enjoyment of literature and learning of math concepts to my students. The math-literature centers will engage and will aid in the development of mathematical concepts and language. The activities will extend, reinforce and provide fun practice. Due to California's budget cuts we are lacking the funds necessary to teach students in the ways they need and deserve.

Your generous donation will help make vital math concepts more relatable and comprehensible to my students by engaging them with a great math story!

Mathematical concepts will no longer be abstract and boring instead will be meaningful and positive!
