It's every teachers dream to provide fun and engaging instructional activities for their students. Well this year I want to start the year by engaging my with the use of technology. Math is a challenging subject that most students fear, but by the end of this that's going to change.
My students attend a diverse school in Atlanta, GA.
The students in my class are full of great ideas, and great answers. They are in need of some resources to help them show their great ideas, resources to challenge them, and resources to keep our classroom running smoothly.
My students are some of the most curious, intelligent, and kind-hearted people in the world. They have a love of learning, and a deep commitment to their education. These amazing students should have access to the resources that are going to help them reach their full potential. They love to explore Math through extension lesson and remediation.
My Project
Since our students use technology in their everyday lives, why not mirror their excitement and engagement inside the classroom. The iPad minis, headphones and keyboard cases with are used during individual learning, center activities, small group instruction and remediation learning. My students will be able to practice math skills, view math instructional and interactive videos, and complete enrichment activities to enhance their critical thinking skills.
The laminating machine and pouches will be used to creating reusable handouts and small group learning hands-on activities that will get the students out of their seats and moving around. The handouts will be used for vocabulary card games and higher-order questing cue cards for students to complete within groups. The card handouts ensure that students are continuously working together in cooperative groups building their math skills. The dry erase markers and erasers will be used for quick response lessons.
I know that I can improve my students classroom experience by providing them with these resources.
The added value of this project in my classroom is immeasurable. Their educational experience will be engaging, exciting and fun. By middle school, most students either love or fear math, therefore I want to make sure I keep it fun and engaging continuing their love and changing their fear.
