Our students are ready and willing to take on the challenges of a 21st-century education. They have many diverse styles of learning and need exposure to 21st-century learning resources. They need to collaborate with their peers and lead by example.
We are 95% African-American, 2% Haitian-American, 2% Hispanic, and 1% Caucasian with 97% of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is located in the inner city of Miami, Florida. Although our students are faced with many socio-economic challenges, they seek a high-quality education to become productive citizens.
My Project
Our kindergarten, first and second grade classes are in need of additional resources for their whole class instruction and small group learning stations. During whole group instruction, each student can display his/her work on a dry erase board. Using blue and red markers to demonstrate addition and subtraction computations is a great way to illustrate the part-part-whole concept.
The dry erase markers and boards will help teachers quickly check for understanding of the daily learning targets.
Teachers can jot down names of students of that are stuggling with the lesson and invite them to teacher-led, small group centers for more personalized instruction.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
