My students want to learn mathematical concepts using technology, games, and books. We need these materials to create a fun engaging math environment. Let's Have Fun Learning Math! Are you Ready? "We are Ready!"
My students are amazing children with autism.
They are filled with character and color at the elementary grade level ages seven to ten. They deserve the best education possible with the desire to want to learn. They enjoy learning with fun activities in a center based classroom utilizing games, learning materials, technology, and books. My students want to be engaged in their learning as their social, emotional, academic and sensory needs are being met. My school believes that our children learn best through multiple pathways to learning utilizing different resources, materials and technology to enhance student engagement to maximize learning. We do not have a math program that meets each of my students' differentiated needs. One math program is not enough to give my students the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. It is essential for my classroom to have multiple resources, so my students can have the opportunity to acquire and build on their mathematical skills!
My Project
My students will play math games to learn mathematical concepts in a group setting. Games are an engaging way to learn math and social skills. My students will be able to understand math concepts through interactive web and software by using technology at the math center or on a comfortable couch that meets their sensory needs. My students will participate in read aloud with math trade books to learn and understand math concepts.
During a math period, my students will be rotating math stations as math is all around us! There will be a math reading station, game station, math sheets/manipulative station, and computer/iPad station. My students will learn many different math concepts meeting their IEP goals and the Common Core Standards. They will be given the ability to learn and experience mathematics in many ways. All children can learn if instruction is differentiated using multiple pathways to learning to meet each of their unique needs.
My classroom needs math materials (games, books), a sofa, and a laptop to help my students learn mathematical skills as they are given the best educational experience possible.
By receiving these donations, my classroom will become a math friendly interdisciplinary environment. My students will be engaged in their learning and will want to participate and learn math. These donations will give us the ability to have fun learning with math all around us!
