Mathematicians Working from Home

Help me give my students the Math tools and manipulatives they'll need while working from home! Kids learn best with actual objects they can use to count, build numbers, and manipulate values.

My Students

Our school is a place where students and teachers love to learn and grow! My students are excited for a challenge, curious about the world, and eager to get back into our school building. Starting the school year 100% remotely is going to be difficult for us all, but regardless of the bittersweet changes, our teachers and staff are ready to continue putting kids first.

We understand the high needs for our students' social and emotional growth along with academics, especially at a time when learning virtually is a new hurdle for us all.

Our school has a tremendously strong sense of community, which is a strength we're blessed to have. Teachers and staff feel the true urgency to get our students up to grade level in Reading, Writing, and Math and it has paid off! In 2015 we received a School of Distinction Award for proving as a school in the top 5% state-wide for raising academic achievement over the last five years.

My Project

My students need tools to help them grow into confident Mathematicians. While learning at home, my second Graders will use Base-10 Blocks, Dry-Erase boards, and number cards independently, during virtual small groups, and while playing games. The Dry-Erase boards will help them show their work in drawings, numbers, and writing.

My students need engaging hands-on math tools to help them manipulate number values as objects, in drawings, and with equations.

With the dry erase boards and markers I'll also be able to assess students' learning through their self-recorded videos which show their math thinking along with how they use the tools.
