Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

While it is hard to think of a few concise sentences that can describe my students, one word quickly comes to mind: independent. Nothing makes my students light up like identifying a new algebraic pattern or tackling a proof in Geometry without my direct assistance.

My students are brilliant math learners who enjoy discovering new theorems and strategies while working at their own pace.

Like many mathematicians, they understand topics deeply when they are able to explore them on their own using mathematical inquiry and critical thinking. They gain confidence in their math capabilities by explaining their process and arguing for their style of problem-solving.

My Project

My students are energetic learners who respond to the classroom environment around them. Just like most adults, they get tired of spending 8 hours a day stuck behind desks. Many students already struggle with enough distractions so it is critical that seating only enhances their learning experience. My students deserve a room where they feel comfortable and can focus on the big task of getting ready for their Keystone Algebra Exams.

Creating a Flexible Seating Zone in our classroom will provide a space for students who are frustrated with sitting behind a desk all day or just simply need some space to stretch out!

Providing a space for students to physically relax will make our classroom more inviting and help students identify how they learn best.
