This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, specifically during math. In a workshop model, students are given a task to work within a small group setting. All students then come together on the carpet, with calculations and notations on the whiteboards. As a class, we discuss and make changes as needed. Students then have time for guided or independent practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards in this math pack allow me to see exactly what my students are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work using a number line and graph lines that are imprinted on the surface of the whiteboards. These materials will also give all students the manipulatives to work out complex problems and show their work while implementing different learning strategies. The additional paper, will help us color code our centers as well as provide materials for students to show all finalized group work.
