This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year I have the sweetest, most energetic group of 5 year olds I have ever taught. They love to play, so I try to develop play-based lessons that incorporate movement so they are able to channel that love of play towards learning within our lessons. I would absolutely love to be able to provide them with as many hands on (and movement) games and activities as I can to keep them engaged and excited to learn all year long!
My Project
The sets of games I want to give my class will help build their number awareness, numeracy, and one to one correspondence. Of course, you need to know how to read before you can independently solve word problems, so I also want to provide my class with Language Arts games, as well, in order to build their letter and sound awareness and fluency. These games will help my struggling students identify letters and numbers they are working on mastering. These games will help my average and above average students with reading and with composing and decomposing numbers. Each one of my students will be excited and engaged with these hands on activities!
