I teach in a very unique building. Our building hosts three programs. We have special education from kindergarten to high school. We also have a special education preschool program. Last, but not least, we are a elementary building. We service some of the most at risk students in our area. Our building has kindergarten to fifth grade students.
Our school is not located in a neighborhood like most schools.
All our students are bused in or dropped off by parents. We have one of the highest poverty rate in the area. We are only a few percentage points from one hundred percent. We have at least one or more homeless students in each classroom. We serve the most at-risk group of students to date.
My Project
Hands-on learning is one of the best ways to learn. With this material, we will be able to learn difficult math concepts. Learning about numbers is a challenge but being able to use dice, magnetic money, stamps and Base Ten kits, they can physically see how numbers work. These tools can set my students up for success and help them get jobs in the math and science field. We use math everyday. I want to help my students be successful in life by helping them gain the basic skills we take advantage of everyday. Thank you for helping us grow into a future where we use math to better the world.
