My Students
Each year class sizes grow and there never seems to be enough supplies to go around. Do you remember learning new math concepts? Learning something new can be tricky, but having individual math manipulatives can make an enormous difference!
My students are a bright group of second graders who are eager to learn and love math!
Students who love math are hard to find, so I want to make sure they keep that passion by giving them the supplies they need to succeed.
We live in a rural Utah community and our school lacks the funds to purchase many of our own materials. Many times we share manipulatives throughout grade levels and items get lost in the shuffle. My students are in need of new math manipulatives that will allow them to work individually so they can be successful.
My Project
While having to share supplies builds classroom unity, it sure makes it hard to gain an understanding of new math concepts! My students need a magnetic easel, 12 student gear clocks, linking cubes, and place value blocks to help us become better mathematicians!
More linking cubes will help my students demonstrate their understanding of a variety of math concepts. The linking cubes are by far the most used items as far as our math supplies go! My students are used to sharing with groups, but I would like to be able to see them explain a math problem individually. We use them so often and yet there just is never enough. A new set would give us the right amount!
With these new sets of place value blocks, my students will finally have enough to be able to have their own sets! They will be able to work individually at their desks rather than constantly having to share with each other.
We are also in need of more clocks. I have slowly been collecting these student clocks, but there is still not enough. It's so much easier to grasp the concept of telling time when you have your own clock to work with.
Math can be such a challenging subject for young children.
My goal is to make it exciting for them so they will always have a passion for it and so they will be willing to work hard. These new math manipulatives can help accomplish that goal! My students are amazing; they work so hard and I want them to have the best education possible! Your donations can help my students comprehend math better than they ever have before!
