This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to school daily with a drive to learn. My students have specific needs or disabilities ranging from visual impairment, specific learning disabilities, autism, and emotional disturbance. Most students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which is why I need essential materials. They are also at a disadvantage due to their disabilities.
Most of the students in my class are also English learners, and some are relatively new to the country.
The community consists of mostly Spanish-speaking families and a small percentage of African-American families. My students work hard every day to learn and to grow.
I support my students in a special day mathematics classroom and they are expected to meet grade-level standards with the support and accommodations I provide. In order to have access to the curriculum, my students need various ways to learn: visually, auditorily, kinesthetically, and/or tactically. As an educator, I want to make sure my students have the same opportunities as their peers in regular general education classrooms.
My Project
As a class, we complete many project-based learning activities that must be printed and can be reused with access to a personal laminator. I have space in the classroom to showcase student work, but we need sheet protectors to help organize and manage student work.
Please support our classroom by providing the tools students need to share and protect their ideas.
Students will be able to organize their materials more efficiently if they were laminated and will have the opportunity to write or reuse the materials. Student work will be displayed in the classroom using sheet protectors. Overall, we need these materials to promote a more organized climate.
