This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The dolls and rubber bands will be used for students to simulate bungee jumping from multiple heights and analyze the relationship between starting heights and stretched distances that result in a safe jump. With the use of these tools, my students will be able to practice disciplinary literacy and engage in the mathematical modeling process. That is, students will define a problem (the relationship between heights and stretched distances associated with bungee jumping), make predictions, identify variables, state assumptions, run simulations, collect data, construct mathematical models, analyze and assess models, and report and revise results.
