This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
I am looking to expand my math literacy library where I can pair read aloud with my math lessons to support learning and a positive mathematical mindset in all students.
I will use these books during online learning sessions with my students, as well as when we return to school to inspire my students to be strong mathematicians.
My Project
These mathematical texts will help foster the love of mathematics in our classroom community. They will be used to support my online learning lessons through video conferences while we distance learning. When we move back into the classroom they will be paired with our math curriculum to support students' math learning in a different way. Many of these books on the list are about famous mathematicians and scientists who used their determination and math skills to help the world be a better place. I want my students to be exposed to these stories so that they know that if they put their minds to it, they can accomplish anything.
