This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school math students come from many different cultures and backgrounds. Inside the classroom they are creative, inquisitive, and learn in various ways. They love engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and technology infused lessons. Everyday they come to school eager to learn and excel. I always look forward to watching them overcoming their various struggles as they progress throughout the school year.
Not only are my students eager learners but they are also very thoughtful and giving.
They help each other through small acts like providing a pencil to a classmate in need, and through great acts of kindness like standing up for a friend that has not been treated fairly. It is a daily pleasure to work with these amazing kids.
Our school is a Title I school which means that there is a large concentration of low income students. After conducting individual interviews with my students, I have realized that several of them do not have access to technology.
My Project
It is my wish to provide my students with access to technology. I would like to incorporate the use of personal devices into my classroom math lessons, but am currently unable to do so because some students do not have a personal device.
My goal is to strengthen their math skills by giving them opportunities to achieve through engaging interactive online activities.
These activities will provide students with opportunities to either remediate their math skills or to excel in their mathematical understanding.
The tablets will also be available before school for my students to complete the district required math lessons through the "i-ready" online program.
