My Students

Do you remember how engaging computer games were? Well, I want to give my students the opportunity to engage in math through technology and games!

My students come from diverse backgrounds.

Some of the students are middle class, while many of them are from a lower economic community. My class has about 82% receiving free and reduced price lunch. Even though some of my kids have a tough life at home, they come to school eager to learn. They want to do well and they want to understand the content that is being taught. I want to be able to bring in as many resources for these students because I know many of them don't have the resources at home.

My Project

I am asking for an Apple computer because I have 3 PCs and I want my students to be able to use both operating systems. I also work in small groups and each group is about 6-7 students, so during the computer center students have to rotate or share computers and this will add another computer to their center. During the computer center we have been using free math game sites, but I would really like to track students progress so they can see what they have accomplished and these games with help us with that goal. These resources would be used daily in the classroom by 60 students. I have also requested mice to go with the computers we have and the new one, along with a couple of math board games to add to the computer center so students have choices.

The computer and computer games will engage students and enhance their mathematical skills.

Students will be able to use the computer and games on a daily basis. Students can't wait to get to the computer center, and I know that these games will help many of the students with their math! The mice will make it easier for them to navigate the computer. The board games will be another choice during computer center, especially if they don't feel like sharing that day.
