This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students understand that what they do and say matters. They know their actions can make a difference. I have a very sweet bunch of kids who need an active, hands-on classroom.

I teach at a Title I school where English is a second language for many students.

Some of my students face adversity such as poverty and attending multiple schools during their elementary years. Almost all of our students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program. My students need to be able to collaborate in a flexible space and require engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

My Project

My students enjoy math, especially when offered hands-on activities that foster their thinking and learning. I am always looking for new and creative ways to engage them and promote their understanding of mathematics. VersaTiles are a great solution because they provide math practice through puzzle-like activities, instead of plain worksheets. Students absolutely love them!

I will use the VersaTiles as part of my math rotations.

Many of students are below grade level in math. They need to review and practice each skill throughout the year. A VersaTiles math kit would be a great addition to my math centers because the kit addresses all of my math standards. In addition, VersaTiles allow students to self-monitor with immediate feedback. VersaTiles will help improve my classroom by providing myself and my students the flexibility for using them individually or for small group work.
