Math Tools for More Mathematicians

Help me give my students a personalized calculator that they will be able to use outside of the classroom for help, but more specifically to ensure that all my students have a calculator for their AP Precalculus exam.

My Project

These calculators will continue to enhance the technology-driven classroom that I strive to create with how the world continues to progress each day. Our primary objective is to have a collaborative learning environment with technology at the forefront, but if my students do not have the calculators they need to be successful. And hopefully, these calculators will also spark an interest in a STEM-related career by further understanding what we are doing in class.

With these new calculators, my students will be able to work on a variety of new topics that will allow them to expand their knowledge and abilities in making their mathematical minds a state-of-the-art exemplar.

With the funding of this project, the members of my class would be able to increase their productivity, as we only have a limited supply of calculators to work with. I only have a class set, which is 33, but I have over 165 students in all of my classes who will have to take the AP exam at the same time. We have been using our original calculators for over 8 years now, and we are in dire need of new ones as well as many more calculators to incorporate the new influx of interest in AP Precalculus. Some of the criteria for our new laptop were affordability, accessibility, and eligibility for the AP exam. This is why we are requesting multiple forms of the TI-84 calculators to ensure no one is deemed ineligible with their calculators and can ensure their success both in class, at home, and on the AP exam.
