This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is filled with first and second-grade students who have a passion for learning and have beautiful, kind hearts. These students show enthusiasm and curiosity with every new subject matter learned. They ask questions and show interest in why or how something is the way it is. My students are also the type of people we want to see in the world. They are willing to help one another achieve their personal success and show love and compassion to one another. I believe that one day my students will change the world.
My Project
Purposeful centers are an important part of my class's daily routine. We are requesting wooden counting blocks and Osmo learning games to support our learning during math centers. A variety of math tools will allow for my students to enhance their personal math toolbox.
With the addition of wooden counting blocks and the Osmo learning games, my students will be able to practice the math skills that they may need extra support in.
As students rotate through their math centers, these learning tools will be both engaging and useful in reaching some areas of need.
Many of my students are struggling with counting, reading, and writing numbers. I believe that these wooden counters will allow for my students to practice seeing, counting, and kinesthetically moving the numbers to be able to identify numbers to 100 more fluently.
The Osmo math games in the starter kit will also allow for students to practice skills as they work in Osmo. Osmo makes the learning more enjoyable for students because it provides kid friendly animations and math manipulatives that make it seem like they are playing a video game. With these Osmo kits, the students will be having fun while simultaneously learning!
