In my position as Math Interventionist, I work with students from Kindergarten to Sixth Grade. I provide additional instruction/support, often in a small group or one-on-one, to reteach and/or review important math concepts and skills.
To support student progression in the various skills being focused on, I want to provide a variety of tools to fit each student's unique learning level, style, and need.
The requested tools will do just that and give extra opportunities for hands-on learning/exploration. I requested tools focused more on the older grade-level math concepts due to the fact that many of the physical tools I have support early math learning. The decimal blocks, fraction tiles, and other older-level math concept tools will allow me to provide more opportunities to see and understand the math concepts explored in the upper grades through concrete and representational modeling. These concepts include working with larger numbers, multi-digit multiplication & division, fractions, and decimals.
The wobble stools are an additional tool for all age groups. These will help students who benefit from movement to support them in being more focused on their learning.
The final items on the list of the requested items are 2 books. One of these books will provide strategies and advice around supporting students at the Tier 2 level. The other book provides additional fact fluency activities and assessments to utilize with the students.
