Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a departmentalized math teacher who gets to work with 80 individual students every single day. My students are diverse in their backgrounds, and my students also have a diverse set of academic needs that need to be addressed.
In my four classes I teach 20 students that range in age from 9-12 years old, that have different ability levels.
As a teacher I want to help my students do the best they can, and that means giving them tools to be successful.
My Project
I try to give my students as many hands on activities as I can in the classroom. The hands on math tools and storage would do wonders to help my students be able to have a more tangible grasp of mathematics in the classroom.
Outside of the classroom I want to give my students adequate support by letting them get extra practice on what we've done in class at home.
Having these tools would mean I'd be able to electronically annotate and record audio for videos that students could watch at home from any WiFi capable device. This would not only help kids better educate themselves on what they need to practice, but also allow parents more tools to help their children.
