Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students never cease to amaze me with their resilience and enthusiasm to learn. I teach a Preschool for All Learners class. My students have developmental delays (Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Speech and Language delays), with different strengths and abilities. They are a mixture of inquisitive minds and artistic talent, and just love to learn.
My Project
Due to the pandemic, my students spent a year of their formative years (first five) learning through a computer screen which means that they missed out on the joy of learning through hands-on experiences. Having materials that they can touch and manipulate will provide them with tactile ways to learn basic math concepts that start with recognizing colors, shapes, numbers and patterns. The materials in this project will give my students different means to develop their cognitive skills and strengthen their problem solving abilities in ways that make learning fun.
