My Students
My students come from a low-income area and low socioeconomic backgrounds. One hundred percent receive free breakfast and lunch. We are lacking many everyday school supplies and many of my parents cannot afford to buy their children pencils, folders, and other essential supplies for school.
Many of my students come from low-income households.
Eighty-five percent of the students are English Language Learners, so many do not receive much help at home due to language. The teachers at our school are mentors to the children. We want all our students to succeed. The school provides a caring and warm environment to learn.
My Project
My students need math practice journals, spiral notebooks, hands-on number line, coins, counters, and folders. Having some Math manipulative is fun and will be beneficial to make math enjoyable. Spiral notebooks will be used for students interactive math journal. They will cut and paste math standards and activities in their journal daily and will be able to use their journals to review and play math games in their own interactive notebook. Hands on math will be a visual learning for students during math time. Using the spiral notebooks will help them review math standards taught. The folders will be used to keep math sheets organized. The laminate pouches are to be used to laminate math tools for their math bags.
Having hands-on math number line on their desks is beneficial for my visual learners.
