Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is an active learning environment where we focus on students learning by doing.
My students are a group of dual-language first graders that attend a Title I school in a Texas urban school district.
Many are still learning English, and many more are on free or reduced lunches. Most importantly they love learning and are eager to become mathematicians!
My Project
We are requesting math learning centers for the students to practice mathematical concepts during our math block. My students will develops skills in number & operations in base ten; measurement & data; geometry; place value; time; partitioning shapes; graphing; money; and addition & subtraction and more with these independent learning centers! Most importantly the students will love doing them and in turn will love to learn about math.
Sharpening math skills and making it fun can be a challenge in any classroom.
These activities will accomplish both. Through interactive and engaging centers my students will practice and refine mathematical skills that will benefit them now and in the future.
