Diversity at its best! We are located in a densely populated city in Southern California. Many students come from culturally and linguistically diverse families, and contribute to a greater learning experience for the whole class.
When working with the first grade students, their curiosity and eagerness to learn is truly invigorating.Although abundant and rich in culture and experiences, most families struggle with financial stability.
For some families, education is not a priority. Acquiring an education without much support from home can slow the process of learning for many, but a few students excel without the support from the home. I feel the school is a place that must support both types of students, and all the others who fall within.
How can a 3D printer impact our student learning? When our students can hold the math & science concepts in their hands, learning becomes fun!
Science concepts will no longer be 2 dimensional ideas from books or computer screens, but they will engage in building the image to life, whether learning about an animal, or about the planets in space, their learning possibilities will be endless.
With the 3D Printer, my student will be using their understanding of math concepts, learning at an early grade level how 3D modeling combines computer skills and problem solving skills, by making geometric shapes, creating diversified designs, and generating endless creativity and fun.
3D printing will facilitate building, experimenting, and even through trial and error, gaining insight to concepts with tactile operations and creation.
