My students need more technology in the classroom to help with math fluency - a Chromebook!
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is very ethnically diverse and many of our students have not only financial needs, but emotional needs, as well. Many of our students come from "broken homes" where they don't have a mom or dad to feed them a healthy dinner or read to them at night. These students come to school not always ready to learn.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics, as well.
The needs of my students are far greater because of their home lives and I'm trying my best to create a safe, happy environment for all of them.
My students will use this Chromebook to practice their math fluency and problem solving skills while using school approved websites and activities in small groups. A lot of my students do not have technology available to them at home, so it's imperative that they practice as much as they can at school to better prepare them for the content in the next grade level. My students are more engaged when using technology and it teaches them how to work collaboratively with their peers. By adding this laptop to our classroom, more students will be able to access the material taught in class.
