This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My math lab is a place where students will come to explore in depth their own thinking about math and the deeper meaning of what they are working on. They will have the chance in a small group to work together and extend their depth of knowledge with each other.
I teach at a Title I school in Arizona where all our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
They take pride in finding patterns and having a growth mindset and they are not afraid of failing.
My Project
Kids need to play and explore while learning. At recess, kids are not afraid to play and fail and be creative. With these materials, it will make the classroom be more like recess where kids will play and explore deep levels of thinking through play. They will develop a growth mindset and a deep understanding of problem-solving.
Play will help kids develop healthy mindsets and foster a love of learning.
Games and puzzles are great to have students engage in the mathematical practices that they will need in the 21st century. Students will learn to think flexibly while solving problems, these games also increase equity giving all students access to mathematical thinking and concepts.
