My Project

Many of our students are way behind learning and understanding basic math concepts when they arrive in 5th grade. This project will reinforce the teaching using more than just worksheets. Math centers will be used for students to practice concepts taught in an engaging way. They will have some choice each day in practicing with small groups of peers to strengthen their understanding of the math concepts being taught in whole group.

Using the games and math centers will peak our student's interests and help them have some ownership of their learning.This opportunity to work with manipulatives and fun games will keep students engaged in their own education.

I have found our students do not have grade level skills and memorization and worksheets are not the answer. I have used literacy centers in th past and they have proved to be invaluable, I believe these math centers will have the same outcome.
